This is for the monitoring of blood pressure, asthma, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease, chronic kidney disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, dementia, epilepsy, heart failure, hypertension, hypothyroidism and stroke/TIA.

Ante-Natal and Post-Natal

The community midwives offer total care for pregnancy, birth and the post-natal period.  They currently run a clinic each Wednesday.  Unless you have had problems in previous pregnancies, your initial appointment should be with the midwife and not your GP.  Your initial appointment should be 10 weeks after the date of your last period. Post-natal appointments can be made with a GP during normal surgery times.  Please ask the receptionist for a double appointment.

Abdominal Aortic Aneursym (AAA)  -  65+ and male?

A free and quick NHS scan can tell you if you have an abdominal aortic aneursym. There are around 6,000 deaths each year in England and Wales from ruptured AAA - around 4% of men aged between 65 and 74 in England have an AAA (approximately 80,000 men). The condition is 6 times more common in men than in women.

Men are automatically invited for screening in the year they turn 65.  However, men who are older than 65 and who have not previously been screened or treated for an AAA, can opt in through self-referral direct to the screening programme - telephone: 01784 884859 or by email: aaascreening@asph.nhs.uk

Men will receive an invitation leaflet with an appointment at The Villages Medical Centre for a scan giving 3 week's notice.
