***URGENT PATIENT NOTICE - COVID-19 VIRUS***
If you are unwell with a high temperature (37.8C or higher) or a new continuous cough, please stay at home and self-isolate for 7 days from the onset of your symptoms regardless of your travel history or contact with confirmed cases. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY, A PHARMACY OR TO A&E. Please go to the NHS 111 online service https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ if you have serious symptoms that cannot be managed at home or have had no improvement of your symptoms after 7 days. Please only ring NHS111 if you cannot get online. Please note a cough may persist for several weeks for some people. However, this does mean you need to stay at home for more than 7 days.
As you will be aware, COVID-19 virus is a new illness that is spreading across the UK. As such we are taking actions to protect our patients, our staff and our community by introducing a new telephone triage system for GP appointments. Our aim is to significantly reduce the footfall through our surgery in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, in line with national guidance.
All GP appointments will initially be on the telephone. If you have an appointment booked with a GP, please do not come to the surgery - please stay at home and the doctor will call you as near to the allocated time as possible. The GP will do all they can to help you over the phone - however, should they feel the need to see you face to face for an examination, you will be invited to the surgery for review. Please either telephone the surgery or use the patient online access service to book appointments. We are no longer booking appointments face to face at reception. Patients will be screened by telephone for all pre-booked nurse and HCA appointments. Nurse and HCA will currently be limited to essential appointments only. Please contact reception if you are unsure if your appointment is essential. Please do not come to the surgery unless you have been invited to do so by a clinician.
Due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak and to prevent the spread of infection, for the immediate future we are temporarily disabling the ability for patients to book face to face appointments online. However, you will still be able to book telephone appointments online. Please note you can still request repeat prescriptions online.
We offer a range of appointments to suit the needs of the practice population. If you work or have to arrange transport, you can book an appointment up to four weeks ahead. Sometimes you may be offered a GP telephone consultation appointment, and if the GP feels he/she needs to see you, he/she will give you an appointment to attend the surgery.
Please let us know if you would like to see a particular doctor and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
If you feel you may be infectious, please inform the receptionist who will arrange for you to wait in a separate room.
Our Practice Nurse Debbie is fully trained and available to treat patients for the following infections:
If you feel you may have one of the above infections, please ask for an appointment to see Debbie.
Difficulty in obtaining an appointment?
If you have had difficulty in obtaining an appointment, you may be interested to learn that on average there are 80-100 missed appointment with Doctors and Nurses every month. This represents over 13 hours of GP and nurse time and is a waste of NHS resources.
PLEASE either keep your appointment or cancel it in good time to enable us to offer it to someone else.
If you need to be seen urgently, you will be offered an appointment the same day. There may not be a choice of doctors.
We try to avoid patients having to wait more than 20 minutes for their GP appointment to start. However this is sometimes unavoidable. Our GPs will always try to deal with all your problems at one appointment if they can, but if you have more than one problem to discuss, it would be a considerable help to let your GP know at the start of the consultation in order for them to prioritise the problems.
Telephone Consultations with doctors or nurses
You can book a telephone consultation appointment with a doctor or practice nurse who will then call you back on a convenient telephone number. Please be aware if you book a telephone appointment, this will be within a 2 hours time slot.
Children under 16 years old
Children under 16 should be accompanied by a parent or adult. However, there may be times when they wish to see a GP alone. Please note that we need a parent’s signed consent form for immunisations and minor surgery.
Please let us know if you would like a chaperone to be present at your consultation at the time of booking.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
Code of Behaviour
The practice aims to give its patients a high quality of care in a secure environment. Whilst you are in our care or visiting our premises you have the right to expect courtesy and consideration from our staff and from other patients and visitors, and they have the right to expect the same courtesy and consideration from you.
